Summer is such a magical time. I was lucky enough to spend a couple months in the Yucatan Peninsula area this summer. It was truly a blessing to be there. I spent most of my time in a little beach/jungle town called Tulum. Tulum is situated in the Riviera Maya about 90 miles south of Cancun and about 40 miles from Playa Del Carmen. It's a pretty easy drive if you rent a car and take highway 307 all the way. You can also take a bus for a very affordable fee. A taxi ride wouldn't even be too outrageous either, but by taking the bus or renting a car you would definitely be saving money. Easily, my favorite thing about Tulum is the people. There are so many genuine people in Tulum, especially the local Mayans and Mexicans who live there. Another great feature is the beaches. Tulum has some of the most wonderful beaches in the world. You probably didn't know that at least one of the Corona commercials with the couple on the beach was filmed here. Yes, it is as beautiful as it looks on TV and yes, you should come down for a visit!
